You may recall a few posts back, I determined who was the ugliest band in history through intense historical analysis and complex algorithms. My next challenge was to find the most embarrassing band in history. Sadly, the challenge proved too easy, and within minutes I concluded The Kids Super Power Hour was worthy to assume this dubious honor.
The Kids Super Power Hour featured animated segments ("Hero High") integrated with the lame live performances. Now, I know the show was intended for children, so perhaps their lameness can be forgiven. But it's still fun to watch. Here's a couple odd and interesting things about the show.
Jere Fields played the superhero Misty Magic. Jere is the older sister of Kim Fields (Tootie on "The Facts of Life"). She has been married to Jimmie Walker (J.J. on "Good Times") since 1980. This means J.J. and Tootie are brother and sister-in-laws. Dynomite!!One band member/superhero was actually named Dirty Trixie! The actress who played this character with a name like a filthy whore is married to Willie Aames ("Eight is Enough", "Charles in Charge", Zapped!).
The other band members went on to complete obscurity (they may be working in the cubicle next to you). The actor who played Captain California (who could blind you with his "mega smile") appeared on an episode of "The Dukes of Hazzard" as cousin Jeb, then vanished. Glorious Gal (whose costume seemed intended for any dads in the audience) played an anonymous screaming girl in Bachelor Party then dropped off the face of the earth.Anyway, enjoy the clip for all its resplendent 1981 cheesiness. I apologize up front for exposing you to the superhero Weatherman... the man should have never been allowed near a spandex body suit. Enjoy!
