Commit that address to memory folks. I'm really excited to announce the grand opening of the Retrospace forums - a place where we can share and discuss all things vintage, from TV shows to fashion ads. It's all there.
As far as I can tell, there's no vintage forums out there that really cover the topics that Retrospace deals with. This will hopefully fill that void. In the forum, you can share images (scans, old photos, collectibles, records, etc.] and also your opinions and information. I look forward to seeing the great images and reading the interesting discussions that will surely come.

But what about Facebook?
I gave Facebook the benefit of the doubt, but it just didn't do it for me. It may be a great tool for keeping in touch with friends and family, but otherwise it's pretty lame. In fact, I heard Facebook lost 6 million users last month - I wonder if it'll turn into another Myspace/Geocities. Tumblr, meanwhile, is gaining users as fast as Facebook loses them - and Retrospace Zeta has had a pretty good presence on Tumblr for a couple years now.
But aren't forums passé?
So were blogs when I started Retrospace back in 1998. They began as everyone's favorite buzz word (like Twitter), but their popularity fell off a cliff by '96. But you can't keep a good thing down, and now blogs are the number 2 reason why people hop on the Internet each day (the first being Facebook). The forum has its purpose. It may never become a phenom like Tumblr and Twitter, but it's got staying power like the blogs.... I can feel it.
Aren't forums exclusive and snobby?
Forums gathered that reputation years ago. And it was a reputation earned honestly. If someone wanted to join a Star Wars forum, a Harley forum, a RPG forum, etc. you had to jump through hoops of fire to get in... and once inside, you found out that everyone there are dicks. God forbid you make a mistake in your post/comment - the asshole enthusiasts would crush you like a bug. It's not like that anymore. Promise.
Won't the sound of crickets chirping be deafening?
Yes. At first, only a handful of you will go and give it a try. But, this site gets a lot of traffic - so, it's not like I'm starting this forum from scratch. Stick with it, and I promise it will be a busy forum in 5-6 months. In fact, it may get to where membership will have to be limited. We shall see.
Is it free?
For you it is. For me, not so much. Yet another reason to sprinkle some green into the tip jar on the right hand sidebar. If the forum starts getting heavy traffic and uses up a lot space, I'll have to pay more - but there's ways to fix that with advertising.
Is everyone invited?
Yes. Unless you're a youngster, in which case you should stay away. I can control the content of Retrospace - the images and the words - but I can't in a forum. So, there's bound to be inappropriate material over there. When you register, you'll get a warning.
We have Retrospace. Why would we need a forum?
Thanks. You're too kind. The fact is, the forum is a place for you to not just comment, but be an active participant in the exact same topics covered here at Retrospace. Do you have old photos of you in a baby blue polyester leisure suit - now you can share it! Do you have a collection of great album cover art you'd like to share? Bring it. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
