Consider this a sort of part II to "70's Porn Chic", a previous post on Retrospace. I think it's the perfect way to illustrate the sexual permissiveness of those days.
I promise these ads are not cut and pasted next to each other. If you question their authenticity, I encourage you to dig up the movie listings in these theaters - you'll see that these are completely legit. Scout's honor. So without further rambling, here's a gallery of vintage newspaper ads with X rated films side by side with mainstream Hollywood films. Enjoy!
Come To My Bedside next to Rocky III and The Man From Snowy River (1980)
Debbie Does Dallas next to The Aristocats (ad 1980)
This is one of my favorites. A Woman's Urge next to The Sound of Music.
"A secret cult of lust craved witches" next to movies with Carol Burnett, Julie Andrews, and Carol Channing!
Choices, choices. A movie about the life of Jesus or an X rated movie by the Candid Camera guy. Hmmmm.
This is convenient. Send the kids to Disney's Little People movie while you check out Teenage Cheerleaders.
And here's where I got the title of this post...
I'm not sure what a "Cream Day Banana" is, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't belong next to Pooh and Tigger..... or does it?
